No.4 Red Weeping Jizo Cherry Tree

This gorgeous benishidarezakura gets its name Benishidare Jizo-zakura (Red Weeping Jizo Cherry Tree) from the small temple under it dedicated to Jizo Bosatsu (Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva), an enlightened being in Buddhism to whom locals pray to protect their children. Estimated at 400 years old and with weeping branches that cascade down full of deep pink blossoms, the tree is called the daughter of the Miharu Takizakura weeping sakura.
