Just as it is called a cherry forest, the Saigyo Cherry Tree Forest features a veritable forest of some 3,000 sakura in 100 varieties including oyamazakura and somei yoshino. The sea of pink blossoms and sakura tunnel that form in the spring are simply stunning. Visitors are also treated to beautiful views of snow-capped mountains in the distance and the Kitakami River running through Hiraizumi Town among its temples and old buildings.
