No.91 Mahoroba Green Road

Believe it or not, the Mahoroba Green Road (Mahoroba no Ryokudo) used to be a train line whose operation was discontinued in 1974. Shrines and a museum dedicated to an author of children’s stories lie along the line, which was redeveloped and planted with around 700 somei yoshino, yamazakura and other sakura varieties over six kilometres. Now each spring the sakura form a tunnel of pink blossoms perfect for walking and cycling under. Bicycles rentals are available nearby.
